Michael Macharia Njiri, popularly known as DJ Brownskin, has been acquitted by the Milimani Magistrate’s Court of all charges related to his wife’s suicide, after the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence
In a ruling delivered on Thursday, Magistrate Caroline Nyanguthi stated that the case had not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt
DJ Brownskin had faced accusations of counseling his wife, Sharon Njeri Mwangi, to take her own life on July 29, 2022, in Kariobangi South, Buruburu Sub-County. Prosecutors also charged him with neglect to prevent a felony, claiming he did not take reasonable steps to stop the suicide

The court heard that Sharon Njeri died after ingesting poison. Prosecutors alleged that DJ Brownskin watched as she consumed the substance a claim that drew significant public attention after a video purportedly showing the incident circulated online
Additionally, Brownskin faced a charge of destroying potential evidence by deleting suicide-related material from his phone on June 1, 2023, allegedly knowing it would be needed in court

However, Magistrate Nyanguthi ruled that the evidence presented did not adequately establish the elements of the alleged offenses, resulting in Brownskin’s acquittal on all counts
DJ Brownskin had been arraigned in June 2023 following investigations into his wife’s death
