Team Kenya’s men and women roll ball national teams made a powerful statement at the seventh edition of the Roll Ball World Cup in Dubai, opening their campaigns with emphatic victories to underline their status as defending world champions

The men’s team began their title defence in commanding fashion, thrashing Poland 18–0 in the tournament opener

The women’s team followed with an equally impressive performance, overpowering Argentina 16–0 to signal their determination to retain the world crown

Men’s debutant Chrispine Ogeto, who impressed in his first World Cup appearance, attributed the dominant win to thorough preparation and strong team unity

“The preparation we had was very good, and the teamwork on the court made the difference. Everyone understood their role, and that showed in the result,” said Ogeto

Women’s assistant captain Judy Cheptoo also expressed satisfaction with the team’s display, highlighting teamwork and speed as key factors behind the victory over Argentina

“We moved the ball well, played for each other, and kept a high tempo throughout the game. It was a good start, but we know there is more work ahead,” Cheptoo noted

Head coach Martin Abunde welcomed the strong start but cautioned against complacency, noting that tougher challenges lie ahead as the tournament progresses

“These wins reflect the level of preparation we’ve had, but the competition will get tougher with every match. We must stay focused, improve game by game, and remain disciplined,” Abunde said

With both teams off to flying starts, Team Kenya has sent a clear warning to their rivals as they pursue another historic World Cup triumph in Dubai
