Thousands Gather at Nyayo Stadium for Kenya’s 62nd Jamhuri Day Celebrations
President William Ruto is set to lead the national event, which has also attracted Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama as the chief guest

Thousands of Kenyans on Friday morning flocked to the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi to participate in the country’s 62nd Jamhuri Day celebrations, marking Kenya’s independence anniversary
President William Ruto is set to lead the national event, which has also attracted Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama as the chief guest

President Mahama arrived in the country shortly after midnight ahead of the ceremony
This year’s celebrations are themed “Tourism and Wildlife”, a reflection of Kenya’s pride in its globally renowned natural attractions and rich wildlife heritage

Security has been heightened inside and around the stadium as citizens continue to stream in for the colourful event, which features military displays, cultural performances, and official state addresses
