A Chinese national who was filmed assaulting a Kenyan worker at the TCM Mabati Factory in Uasin Gishu County has been dismissed, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya confirmed
The viral video shows the man hitting the Kenyan worker with roofing materials inside what appears to be a warehouse
The embassy condemned the incident and urged all its citizens to respect Kenyan laws and cultural norms

“We are extremely disappointed to see such an incident occur
The company’s management has immediately terminated the worker’s contract and may consider further disciplinary action,” the embassy said, adding that this isolated case should not affect Chinese-Kenyan business cooperation

Kenya’s Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) had earlier demanded the deportation of the Chinese national, describing the assault as a gross violation of workers’ rights
However, in a follow-up video, the assaulted worker stated he had forgiven his supervisor and hoped to continue working peacefully
