Six Arrested in Molo Over Massive SIM Card Fraud Scheme

Police in Molo have arrested six suspects believed to be behind a large-scale mobile phone fraud operation involving thousands of national identity cards and SIM cards

According to Molo Deputy County Commissioner Josphat Olechuta, the suspects were found in possession of 2,464 national ID cards and over 3,000 SIM cards, allegedly used to defraud unsuspecting members of the public through various mobile money scams

He also cautioned the public against sharing personal details or handing over their ID cards to strangers, warning that such information can be easily exploited for criminal activities

“The protection of personal data is critical in preventing financial loss and curbing the rise in mobile money fraud,” Olechuta emphasised
