Two Killed in Elgeyo Marakwet Rockfall as Heavy Rains Persist

Two people have been killed in Kipkenda village, Keiyo North, Elgeyo Marakwet County, after rocks crashed onto their home on Sunday night amid ongoing torrential rains

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed the latest incident, adding that three others were injured but later discharged after medical treatment

Murkomen urged residents in the high-risk areas to stay vigilant and report any signs of land movement, warning that the continued heavy rains have heightened the threat of more landslides

Rescue efforts are still underway in Chesongoch, where 19 survivors have been rescued and several are receiving treatment at Chesongoch Mission Hospital

Authorities have advised residents along the valley slopes to relocate to safer grounds as the rains continue to pound the region
