CS Ruku Launches Fierce Attack on Opposition, Questions Their Government Record

Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders, accusing them of failing Kenyans despite spending years in powerful government positions.

Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders, accusing them of failing Kenyans despite spending years in powerful government positions.

Ruku, who spoke during a public event, dismissed criticism directed at President William Ruto’s administration, arguing that some of the country’s fiercest government critics had previously held influential offices but had little to show in terms of development.

The CS said leaders now positioning themselves as alternatives to the Kenya Kwanza administration should first explain what they achieved while serving in government before criticising ongoing programmes.

Ruku Defends Government’s Development Agenda

Ruku strongly defended the Kenya Kwanza administration, maintaining that the government remains focused on fulfilling promises made to Kenyans through economic empowerment, job creation and service delivery.

According to him, the administration is prioritising grassroots development projects intended to improve livelihoods and expand opportunities for ordinary citizens across the country.

He further argued that while the opposition continues to attack the government, the administration is concentrating on rolling out programmes aimed at easing the burden of the high cost of living and improving public services.

Opposition Leaders Put on the Spot

Without holding back, Ruku questioned the legacy of senior opposition figures, saying some had occupied top government offices for years but failed to implement meaningful reforms or transformative projects.

He maintained that leadership should be measured by results rather than political statements, insisting Kenyans deserve accountability from leaders who have previously served in government.

The CS also criticised what he termed as premature political campaigns, urging leaders to focus more on development and less on political confrontations as the country edges closer to the next election cycle.

Political Tensions Intensify

Ruku’s remarks come at a time when political temperatures are steadily rising, with opposition leaders intensifying criticism of the government over economic hardships, governance concerns and taxation.

The opposition has in recent months stepped up nationwide engagements, accusing the government of failing to address the cost of living crisis and struggling to meet key promises.

However, government officials continue to defend the administration’s record, insisting that major economic and development reforms are already underway despite growing political pressure.
