AFCON 2027: Kenya Unveils Official Match Venues and Training Facilities

Kenya has officially confirmed its main stadiums for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, with the government naming Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani and the upcoming Talanta Sports City Stadium as the primary match venues in Nairobi.
Kasarani, the country’s largest stadium, is expected to host major group-stage and possibly knockout fixtures depending on CAF allocations. The facility remains central to Kenya’s football infrastructure and will undergo final refinements ahead of the tournament.

The newly developing Talanta Sports City Stadium has also been included as a flagship venue. Once completed, it is expected to meet international standards and serve as a key symbol of Kenya’s long-term investment in sports infrastructure.
Nyayo Stadium Reserved as Backup Facility
Nyayo National Stadium has been designated as a reserve venue. While it will not host primary fixtures, it will remain on standby to support the tournament in case of scheduling adjustments, logistical needs, or emergencies.
Officials say the inclusion of Nyayo strengthens Kenya’s overall preparedness and ensures flexibility during the high-demand competition period.
Kenya has also identified multiple training facilities across Nairobi and other designated areas to host participating national teams.
These training grounds will be upgraded to meet CAF standards, including improvements to pitches, security systems, changing rooms, and recovery facilities. The aim is to ensure teams have world-class preparation environments throughout the tournament.
Part of the Historic Pamoja 2027 Tournament
AFCON 2027 will be the first edition jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda under the “Pamoja 2027” initiative. The partnership is designed to strengthen regional cooperation while showcasing East Africa’s ability to host major global sporting events.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) continues to work closely with the three host nations to finalize infrastructure, transport systems, and security arrangements ahead of the tournament.
The confirmation of venues underscores Kenya’s broader push to upgrade its sports infrastructure and position itself as a leading sporting destination in Africa. With ongoing construction at Talanta Sports City and continued improvements at existing stadiums, the country is betting on AFCON 2027 to leave a lasting legacy beyondfootball.
