20-Year-Old Man Kills Father in Ugali Dispute in Lang’ata

Police in Lang’ata sub-county are investigating a tragic incident in which a 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his father to death following a disagreement over the preparation of ugali
The deceased, identified as Joseph Okello, 70, was killed at his home in Mugumoini location after a heated confrontation with his son, Peter Olwenye
According to witnesses, the argument began when Okello questioned his son’s decision to start cooking ugali using water that had not fully boiled
The dispute reportedly escalated after the father challenged his son’s cooking method, culminating in a violent altercation that turned fatal

Mugumoini Senior Chief George Mukuria said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident and may have been under the influence of drugs at the time
He added that the victim died on the spot after sustaining multiple stab wounds to the back and neck

Following the killing, village elders and local youths launched a search for the suspect and traced him to a hideout in the Soweto area, where he was arrested and handed over to officers from Lang’ata Police Station who were on patrol
The body of the deceased was taken to Nairobi Funeral Home, formerly City Mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination as investigations continue
