Vocal Africa Threatens Legal Action Against IEBC, EACC Over Alleged Election Misconduct
Vocal Africa claims that the two institutions, among others, did not act decisively against officials who compromised the integrity of polls at various polling stations

A human rights organization, Vocal Africa, has threatened to take legal action against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly failing to hold officials accountable for violating electoral laws during recent by-elections
Vocal Africa claims that the two institutions, among others, did not act decisively against officials who compromised the integrity of polls at various polling stations

Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, Vocal Africa announced that if no action is taken within 14 days, the organization will proceed to court to sue the IEBC and EACC
The group’s Executive Director, Khalid Hussein, also called for the resignation of Cabinet Secretaries and other state officers who were involved in campaigning for government-allied candidates

Vocal Africa maintained that the recent polls were marred by widespread cases of violence, voter intimidation, and bribery, coupled with inaction from both IEBC and EACC
The organization warned that continued inaction could put the country at risk of electoral chaos ahead of the 2027 general elections
