A clinical officer attached to Chemaner Health Center in Bomet County has been arrested following allegations that he raped a pregnant woman during a routine maternity check-up
Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa confirmed the arrest, identifying the suspect as Eric Langat, also known as Kirinyet. The officer is accused of committing the offence while attending to the victim in one of the consultation rooms at the facility

According to police reports, the victim’s screams alerted staff members and patients within the health centre, who rushed to the scene. The suspect was allegedly found in a compromising situation but managed to flee as onlookers gathered
The incident was later reported at Chemaner Police Station, prompting a manhunt that led to the suspect’s arrest at a hideout within the area

Police officers, working alongside medical personnel, escorted the victim to Longisa County Referral Hospital, where she underwent medical examination and received counselling
Sources indicate that the suspect may have been linked to two previous similar incidents that were never reported, allegedly due to his close connections with senior medical administrators
Police say the suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed
