Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has expressed confidence that candidates backed by the broad-based coalition will win the upcoming by-elections slated for November 27

Speaking during the Kasipul Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement at Sikri Vocational Training Centre in Homa Bay County, Prof. Kindiki said the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have agreed to jointly support candidates fielded by either party in the polls

“We have all agreed to work together and fully support all our broad-based candidates in the coming by-elections

The agreement signed by President Ruto and the late ODM leader Raila Odinga allows us to support candidates from either of our parties,” Kindiki said

The by-elections will be held in Kasipul, Ugunja, Malava, Mbeere North, Banisa, and Magarini constituencies, alongside the Baringo Senate and several MCA seats

Kindiki affirmed that ODM candidates in Kasipul, Ugunja, and Magarini have the coalition’s full backing, while UDA aspirants in Malava, Banisa, Mbeere North, and Baringo will also receive unified support

In Kasipul, ODM’s Boyd Were will carry the coalition’s flag. “We are one team and here in Kasipul we are fully supporting the ODM candidate,” Kindiki added

Homa Bay Governor and ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga echoed his remarks, saying the party would honor the unity agreement

“In the coming by-elections, we are supporting all the broad-based candidates because we have agreed to back all our coalition’s aspirants,” she said, adding that ODM remains part of the government “as guided by the late party leader”

The Deputy President also highlighted major ongoing projects in Homa Bay and the Nyanza region, noting that the government has allocated Ksh.2 billion for last-mile electricity connections targeting 26,000 new households, and Ksh.15.8 billion for construction of markets, affordable houses, and hostels

An additional Ksh.8.5 billion has been set aside to revive stalled road projects, including the Sikri-Lida road

Kindiki emphasized that the government’s focus remains on fulfilling its development pledges rather than early 2027 election campaigns

“When the time comes, we will be ready to showcase our development record. Do not be misled by those who have nothing to offer,” he said
