President Ruto Unveils KSh5 Trillion Plan to Elevate Kenya to First-World Status
The President said the Cabinet will meet on Monday to approve the fund’s structure, which will support major infrastructure and industrial projects

President William Ruto on Sunday unveiled a KSh5 trillion development plan aimed at transforming Kenya from a third-world to a first-world economy. The announcement was made at the Africa Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa Karuri in Gatundu North, Kiambu County
The President said the Cabinet will meet on Monday to approve the fund’s structure, which will support major infrastructure and industrial projects
Key initiatives include dualing 2,500 km of highways, tarmacking 28,000 km of roads, expanding Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Mombasa and Lamu ports, and extending the Standard Gauge Railway from Naivasha to the Uganda border

The fund will also enhance food security and energy production through the construction of 50 mega-dams, 200 mini-dams, and 1,000 micro-dams, putting 2.5 million acres under irrigation, and generating 10,000 megawatts of electricity to power industrial and agro-processing projects
President Ruto urged leaders to avoid divisive politics and focus on serving citizens, highlighting ongoing government projects, including 240,000 affordable houses, 400 modern markets, and 177,000-bed hostels for students, with KSh48 billion invested in Kiambu County alone

He also criticized politicians claiming Kenya’s development ambitions are impossible, asserting that true progress comes from action and service, not rhetoric
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa and other regional leaders praised the President’s initiatives, noting their potential to transform the Mt Kenya region
Cabinet Secretaries Alice Wahome (Lands) and William Kabogo (ICT), alongside Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, attended the event
