President William Ruto on Monday welcomed environmentalist Truphena Muthoni to State House, Nairobi, lauding her efforts in environmental conservation
Truphena recently completed a 72-hour tree-hugging challenge in Nyeri County, marking her second attempt to break the Guinness World Record after previously completing a 48-hour challenge
Describing her feat as “a deeply symbolic gesture aimed at raising national and global awareness on environmental conservation and climate change,” President Ruto appointed Truphena as an ambassador of the 15-billion-tree planting campaign

“In recognition of her courage, fortitude, and exemplary leadership, I have conferred upon Truphena Muthoni the Head of State Commendation (HSC) Medal,” said the President
In addition, the Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Tourism Board will sponsor a holiday experience for Truphena and her team

President Ruto also confirmed that the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry will support her dream to visit Brazil to gain further exposure to global conservation initiatives
Truphena’s dedication has earned her national acclaim, highlighting the growing movement in Kenya to promote environmental stewardship and climate action
