Tanzania President Appoints Daughter and Kikwete’s Son in Major Cabinet Shake-Up
Speaking from Chamwino State House in Dodoma, President Suluhu said, “This afternoon, I have announced the appointment of the Cabinet and Deputy Ministers. Together, we will work to fulfil the fundamental responsibility of serving the citizens”
Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Monday unveiled her new Cabinet to support her second term in office, making headlines by appointing her daughter and the son of former President Jakaya Kikwete to key positions
Speaking from Chamwino State House in Dodoma, President Suluhu said, “This afternoon, I have announced the appointment of the Cabinet and Deputy Ministers. Together, we will work to fulfil the fundamental responsibility of serving the citizens”

The reshuffle includes 27 ministers and 29 deputy ministers. Among the notable appointments, Wamu Hafidh Ameir, President Suluhu’s 43-year-old daughter and MP for Makunduchi Constituency in Zanzibar, was named Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology. Wamu retained her parliamentary seat under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in the October 29, 2025, general election
Additionally, Ridhiwani Jakya Kikwete, 46, the son of Tanzania’s fourth President, was appointed Minister of Public Service Management and Good Governance
Ridhiwani represents Chalinze Constituency in Pwani region, and his father is credited with supporting President Samia’s rise within CCM and the Presidency

“This responsibility is both a duty and a debt that we must repay to the people by serving them with passion, hard work and great integrity. I wish you all the best. May God guide and lead you,” President Suluhu added
In a further significant move, Tanzania’s ambassador to China, Khamis Mussa Omar, was appointed Minister of Finance.
The Cabinet reshuffle also saw at least seven ministers from her previous administration dropped, including: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Dr. Doto Biteko; Hussein Bashe (Agriculture); Innocent Bashungwa (Home Affairs); Jenista Mhagama (Health); Dr. Seleman Jafo (Industries and Trade); Dr. Pindi Chana (Natural Resources and Tourism); and Dr. Damas Ndumbaro (Constitution and Legal Affairs)
The newly appointed Cabinet was sworn in on Tuesday morning at Chamwino State House, Dodoma
