A day after Citizen TV uncovered a fraud syndicate posing as Social Health Authority (SHA) insurance agents, more victims in Nakuru County have stepped forward, claiming they lost thousands of shillings in the elaborate con
Among the victims is 61-year-old Lucy Wanjeri Gikonyo from Kabazi, Subukia, who says she lost her entire life savings KSh 269,000 to the scammers during what she believed was a legitimate SHA registration drive
Her case mirrors that of Ezekiel Mwangi from Kabatini, Bahati Constituency. Both have since filed complaints with police in Nakuru
“They told me they were registering people for SHA,” Gikonyo recalled. “I couldn’t afford the full payment, but they promised I could pay in installments. I trusted them, and that’s how I fell into their trap”

According to Gikonyo, the group two men and two women wore branded uniforms and carried official-looking documents
After gathering her personal details, they allegedly gained access to her M-Pesa and M-Shwari accounts, withdrawing the funds within hours
Mwangi recounted a similar experience, saying the con artists stopped him by the roadside and introduced themselves as government officers from Kerugoya. “They said they were registering residents for SHA. I can still recognize them today,” he said

His wife, Lucy Njambi, said she became suspicious after spotting errors in the documents her husband received. “He was so happy to have registered, but when I checked the papers, I knew immediately it was a scam,” she said
Police at Kiuguini Station in Bahati and Central Police Station in Nakuru East have launched investigations, confirming that four suspects are already in custody as detectives pursue more leads
Both victims expressed relief that arrests had been made and hope that justice will follow soon
“I just want my money back,” Gikonyo said. “And I hope no one else goes through what we did”
