A man has been charged at the Milimani Law Courts for allegedly publishing false and provocative information on social media after a post calling for an uprising circulated online
Detectives from the Special Crime Unit (SCU) on Monday arraigned Boniface Mulinge Muteti, accusing him of using his X (formerly Twitter) account on December 6, 2025, to post messages deemed inciteful and misleading

The charges were brought under Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act No. 5 of 2018, which criminalises the publication of false information likely to cause panic or incite violence
Muteti denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of KSh15,000. The court scheduled the matter for a pretrial hearing on December 30, 2025
The DCI has reiterated its warning to Kenyans against misusing social media platforms, noting that spreading false or inflammatory information online constitutes a criminal offence
