Rifts within the opposition deepened on Sunday after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka strongly rejected claims made by Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua regarding a supposed power-sharing agreement in Nairobi
Gachagua had claimed that he and Kalonzo had agreed on a new power-sharing arrangement giving DCP control of all major seats, including governor, senator, women representative, 16 out of 17 parliamentary seats, and 75 out of 85 ward seats
However, Kalonzo dismissed these claims as pure political propaganda
Speaking at a thanksgiving service at AIC Church in Mukuni, Machakos County, during celebrations for Anthony Kisoi, the Wiper candidate who won the recent Mumbuni by-election, Kalonzo said the opposition is challenging the ruling party in by-elections that were allegedly manipulated by the state

“Stop the propaganda that Wiper will cede all Nairobi seats to DCP. They are trying everything to create conflict between Gachagua and me. We will do our best,” Kalonzo said
Kalonzo also revealed that the opposition plans to challenge UDA’s victories in Malava and Mbeere North in court, accusing President William Ruto of direct interference in the vote
He claimed police and hired thugs were used to intimidate voters, with some operating openly under law enforcement protection
Addressing claims that Gen Z voters are skipping elections, Kalonzo said young voters would play a decisive role in future polls

“They are taking their time because they know about voter suppression, intimidation, and bribery,” he said
Kalonzo further condemned the misuse of public resources by Ruto’s allies, promising to expose ministers who openly campaigned and violated constitutional provisions restricting political activity by public officials
The opposition appears determined not to accept allegedly unfair election results, with Kalonzo pledging strong political and legal action to protect voters’ rights
