Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed President William Ruto’s ambitious plan to transform Kenya into a First-World nation, branding it “fantasy” and highlighting constitutional shortcomings
Speaking during a church service in South B, Nairobi, the former Vice President questioned how the proposed economic transformation would be financed within the legal framework
He accused the government of attempting to mobilize resources outside the national budget, calling it unconstitutional

“The worst crime, which is contrary to the Constitution, is to say that you will look for money which is not accounted for under the budget. The budgetary process is a constitutional process,” Musyoka said
He also criticized the State’s approach to religion, particularly the proposed Religious Organizations Bill, 2024, describing it as repressive and an overreach on the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of worship
He said the legislation uses the Shakahola tragedy to justify sweeping controls on churches, including potential taxation

On the political front, Musyoka expressed confidence in the opposition’s prospects ahead of the next general election while warning against electoral malpractice
“The only thing they are hoping to do is to steal the election. But I think we are able to stop them from stealing the election. But it is not us the good Lord in Heaven will,” he remarked
Musyoka’s statements add to the ongoing debate on Kenya’s economic policy, governance, and the relationship between the State and religious institutions
