A devastating fire broke out along the Southern Bypass near Ram Residency on Saturday morning after a collision involving a lorry and a fuel tanker
Witnesses said the crash was followed by a massive explosion, sending heavy flames and thick plumes of smoke into the air. Preliminary reports indicate that the fuel tanker, which was headed towards Kikuyu, lost control after hitting a pavement. Moments later, a lorry rammed into the tanker, triggering the inferno
The impact and subsequent fire damaged three vehicles that were parked at a nearby car wash. Authorities have confirmed that the lorry driver died at the scene

Traffic police from Lang’ata promptly sealed off the affected section of the Southern Bypass. While vehicles from Mombasa Road heading towards Kikuyu were allowed to pass, motorists experienced significant traffic congestion as emergency operations continued
Emergency response teams were deployed to extinguish the fire and manage traffic flow. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes until the situation is fully brought under control
