Tragic Gas Cylinder Explosion Claims One Life and Leaves Another in Critical Condition in Shebyoni Village, Kakamega County
The incident occurred in Shebyoni Village, Kakamega County. when a gas cylinder explosion took place in the home of Hopkins Matsili, 38, and his wife Henrick Munyasia while they were preparing a meal on Saturday.
Tragically, Hopkins Matsili lost his life as a result of the injuries sustained in the explosion. His wife, Henrick Munyasia, is currently in critical condition and is receiving urgent medical care at Kakamega Referral Hospital.
The explosion occurred when the gas cylinder engulfed their home, causing irreparable damage. The couple’s children were fortunately not present during the incident.
Mkasa Shinyalu, Hopkins Matsili’s mother, expressed her grief, stating, “Their children had gone to school when the fire incident that has destroyed their house happened. The fire ravaged everything, nothing has been left behind.”

Upon reaching the hospital, it was evident that both Hopkins and Henrick had sustained severe injuries. The family is now faced with an overwhelming situation, and their relatives are uncertain about the next steps to take.
