Family Appeals for Help to Find 75-Year-Old Woman Missing in Umoja

According to her daughter, Joyce Ngunje, Wanjira was last seen around 3 p.m., leaving the house while her caregiver was showering

A Nairobi family is desperately searching for their 75-year-old mother, Grace Wanjira Kamau, who went missing on October 28 in Umoja Innercore

According to her daughter, Joyce Ngunje, Wanjira was last seen around 3 p.m., leaving the house while her caregiver was showering

She reportedly walked to a tailor’s shop in Umoja Innercore, carrying a handbag with personal items, including a skirt, shower cape, and two pouche

The tailor, who is also the family’s neighbor, said Wanjira stayed at the shop for nearly an hour and mentioned her desire to travel to her rural home without informing her children.

“When I heard the news at 7 p.m., it was raining heavily, so I went to a chemist where she usually buys her medication for diabetes and high blood pressure, but she wasn’t seen there,” Ngunje said

She reported the matter at Buruburu Police Station and has continued the search across Umoja, Buruburu, and Kariobangi.

The family has also taken to social media, asking Kenyans to help share information that could lead to Wanjira’s safe return

“We pray and hope God keeps her safe for us. She is the only living parent we have, and we would do anything to find her,” Ngunje wrote on Facebook

Anyone with information on Grace Wanjira Kamau’s whereabouts is urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the family
