Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has announced the appointment of two former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants from Malava Constituency to diplomatic positions, fulfilling a pledge made by President William Ruto during the recent by-election campaigns
On Monday, Mudavadi confirmed that Simon Kangwana had been appointed Education Attaché at the Kenyan Mission in Uganda, while Rhyan Injendi Malulu will serve as Trade Attaché at the Kenyan Embassy in South Africa
Kangwana expressed gratitude following the announcement, thanking President Ruto and PCS Mudavadi for the appointment
Malulu also lauded the leadership, pledging to strengthen Kenya’s bilateral and trade relations with both host nations

The two, alongside Leonard Shimaka recently appointed to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Board for a three-year term were UDA aspirants who had been promised government roles in exchange for supporting UDA candidate David Ndakwa in the Malava by-election
Shimaka was formally welcomed by KRA on November 11 after his appointment by the Treasury CS
KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga said Shimaka joins the board at a time when the authority is focusing on customer service, innovation, and strengthening public trust

During a rally at Malava Primary School, Mudavadi invited Kangwana and Malulu to read their appointment letters, affirming that the President had honoured his promise to the local UDA team
He urged residents to support Ndakwa in the by-election, arguing that representation from the ruling party would ensure easier access to government services.
“The late MP Malulu Injendi left you in government; ensure that you stay inside,” Mudavadi told the crowd
The appointments come as the constituency prepares for Thursday’s by-election, with UDA leaders intensifying efforts to consolidate support
