Six suspects have been arrested in connection with a gang rape incident that occurred on December 1, 2025, in Laare Town, Meru County
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), members of the public alerted Laare Police Station that a young woman was being sexually assaulted by a group of men participating in a traditional circumcision procession

A swift manhunt led to the arrest of Dennis Mwirigi, Ismael Gichuge, Elijah Muriki, Isaac Ntomauta, Joseph Marete, and Phineas Mutali

They join three other suspects who were apprehended at the scene on the day of the incident. All eight are currently undergoing processing ahead of arraignment
