Senior Police Officer Surrenders Over Wife’s Killing in Roysambu

A senior police officer has surrendered to authorities in Naivasha following the fatal stabbing of his wife at their home in Roysambu, Nairobi

The officer, identified as Daniel Macharia and attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road, presented himself to police in Naivasha amid an ongoing investigation into the death of 43-year-old Florence Nyagah

Macharia is currently being held in custody in Naivasha and is expected to be transferred to Nairobi for further questioning and processing

According to a police report, officers from Kasarani Police Station responded to a distress call reporting a body inside Room B205 at By Faith Apartment on Lumumba Drive in Roysambu. The report was made by Zackary Nyagah

The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Kasarani, accompanied by detectives from the DCI and crime scene investigators, visited the apartment and found Nyagah’s body lying on its back in the sitting room

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had sustained three stab wounds to the left side of her chest and a deep cut to the forehead. Investigators also observed a pool of blood near the door leading to the corridor, with additional bloodstains on the door frame

A blood-stained knife without a handle, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from beneath a kitchen table

Family members told investigators that Nyagah was last seen alive on Friday, February 28, 2026, at around 3:41 p.m. during a video call with her daughter. After the call, she reportedly stopped responding to subsequent attempts to reach her

Concerned by the silence, her daughter later went to the apartment, where she discovered her mother’s lifeless body

Detectives are continuing with investigations as the suspect awaits transfer to Nairobi
