Detectives in Mirangine, Ol Kalou Sub-county, Nyandarua County, have launched investigations into the murder of a 50-year-old man whose body was discovered in a pit latrine days after he went missing
The deceased, identified as Simon Muteru Mutitu, a father of three, was last seen alive on January 3 after having supper at his brother’s home in Gathiriga village. He reportedly left shortly afterward, saying he was heading to his nearby home on the same family farm

Concerns over his whereabouts grew the following day when his brother noticed that Mutitu’s house remained locked from the outside a situation the family described as unusual. Efforts to trace him proved futile, prompting the family to report the matter to authorities
A search launched by relatives and neighbors yielded no leads until January 9, when Mutitu’s mutilated body was found dumped in a rarely used pit latrine on the family’s farm, located some distance from the main homestead
