A police officer has been arrested in connection with a series of violent robberies reported in Bondo Sub-county, Siaya County, last week
Police Constable Mark Owino was apprehended on Saturday at about 7:40 p.m. at Holo Police Station, according to an incident report filed at Bondo Police Station
The arrest follows investigations into a robbery with violence reported at Lwala Kotiende Police Station on February 4, 2026, at around 3:40 a.m. The incident occurred at Ajigo Trading Centre, where armed assailants were captured on CCTV cameras harassing a trader before robbing him and fleeing on a motorcycle

Authorities say Owino is currently in custody and will assist investigators, including participating in an identification parade. He is expected to be arraigned at the Bondo Law Courts on Monday, February 9, 2026
The case is being handled by the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer in Bondo
