Shiners Boys High School Murder Suspects to Sit KCSE Exams in Custody
The four suspects linked to the recent murder at Shiners Boys High School will be allowed to sit their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams while in police custody, according to Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang.
During a visit to Nakuru to oversee the opening of an examination container, PS Kipsang confirmed that a multi-agency team is investigating the case. He emphasized that while the suspects will be allowed to complete their exams, they will remain under strict supervision as the legal process unfolds.
“The candidates will take their exams from their current location, and after that, the judicial system will address their case. We trust the security and legal teams to handle it appropriately,” he stated.
The murder occurred on Saturday night, involving the stabbing of a candidate. Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Winstone Mwakio reported that the suspects had been previously suspended from the school but returned to sit their exams, only to discover their personal items had been damaged. They reportedly suspected the victim of causing the damage.
Concerns have also been raised over how the murder weapon was smuggled into the school. Dak, a Sudanese national and the prime suspect, was apprehended on Sunday after fleeing to Nairobi. Police report that his accomplices, now in custody, will serve as witnesses in the case, which has been transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for further examination.
