SHA Gains Momentum with 30 Million Registered citizen, Kindiki Assures Kenyans

Speaking during a public address, Kindiki said the government is committed to strengthening the health sector through the programme, noting that more than 30 million Kenyans have already registered under SHA. According to the DP, the high number of registrations demonstrates growing public confidence in the system and the need for an inclusive healthcare scheme.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has affirmed that the government’s new health programme, the Social Health Authority (SHA), is firmly in place and will continue to serve millions of Kenyans across the country.

Kindiki emphasised that the programme is designed to replace previous healthcare structures and ensure that every Kenyan can access medical services without facing financial hardship. He urged those who have not yet registered to do so, saying the government is working to improve services in public hospitals and expand healthcare coverage nationwide.

The Deputy President also reassured Kenyans that the administration of President William Ruto will continue investing in reforms aimed at making healthcare affordable and accessible. He added that SHA will play a key role in achieving universal health coverage and improving the quality of medical services in both urban and rural areas.

The Social Health Authority was introduced as part of broader reforms in the country’s health sector, with the government pushing for nationwide registration and digitisation of health services. Officials say the system will help streamline contributions, enhance transparency, and ensure that patients receive timely treatment.

As the rollout continues, the government is calling on county leaders, health workers, and community organisations to support public awareness campaigns so that more Kenyans can enrol and benefit from the programme.
