Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has declined a planned visit by a youth group to his rural residence in Ichaweri, Gatundu, Kiambu County, citing lack of formal communication regarding the engagement
In a statement issued Sunday, Kanze Dena, Communications Secretary in the Office of the Fourth President, said the proposed visit had not been officially conveyed to Mr. Kenyatta’s office and therefore could not be approved
“We wish to clarify that President (Rtd) Kenyatta is currently not in a position to host the said group,” the statement read

The office urged the youth group to follow due process by formally communicating and coordinating in advance to allow for proper planning and seamless arrangements for any future engagements
Despite declining the visit, Mr. Kenyatta reiterated his openness to dialogue, emphasizing the importance of respectful and structured intergenerational engagement
“He firmly believes that dialogue between generations is essential for shaping the future of our nation, and he welcomes opportunities for constructive engagement conducted in a dignified manner that fosters unity and mutual respect,” the statement added
