NOCK, Koitalel University Partner to Establish Olympiafrica Sports Centre for Youth Development

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) has signed a strategic partnership with Koitalel University College to establish an Olympiafrica Sports Centre, a major initiative aimed at expanding structured access to sports for young people across the country
The agreement, signed by NOCK President Shadrack Maluki and Koitalel University College Principal Prof. Winston Jumba Akala, marks a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen youth development through sport and education
Spearheaded by Maluki alongside NOCK First Deputy President Barnaba Korir, the project seeks to create a structured environment where young people can nurture their athletic talents while embracing discipline, education, and essential life skills

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Maluki described the collaboration as a shared commitment to empowering the next generation through the combined power of sport and education
“The National Olympic Committee of Kenya is proud to partner with Koitalel University College in establishing an Olympiafrica Sports Centre. This is a major step toward expanding structured access to sport for young people across the country,” Maluki said
“Our shared vision is to nurture responsible, empowered, and disciplined youth through the combined power of sport and education,” he added
Prof. Akala welcomed the partnership, emphasizing the university’s ambition to position itself as a national center of excellence in sports science. He noted that the institution is committed to supporting athletes’ development and training sports medicine professionals

“Let NOCK and Koitalel work together to grow Koitalel into the center of excellence in sports science in this country, because that is where we are headed,” said Prof. Akala
The Olympiafrica Sports Centre is expected to serve as a hub for promoting Olympic values, structured youth engagement, and community development. The initiative aligns with Kenya’s national priorities in education and sports development, reinforcing the role of sport as a driver of positive social transformation
Maluki underscored the importance of integrating sport with education to shape character, leadership, and opportunity among young people. Through the new centre, NOCK aims to build sustainable systems that not only identify and develop talent but also instill integrity, teamwork, and resilience
The partnership further highlights NOCK’s broader commitment to positioning sport as a force for social good—developing champions on the field and responsible leaders beyond it
