Three Killed After Log-Laden Trailer Crashes at Arimi Bridge in Nakuru

Three people were killed on the spot on Saturday night after a trailer transporting logs lost control and crashed at Arimi Bridge along the Molo–Njoro road in Nakuru County

The accident occurred near the Amco area in Arimi, Molo Sub-county, when the trailer reportedly veered off the road before plunging onto the bridge. All occupants of the vehicle died instantly

Police confirmed that the deceased included the driver and two other men. However, their identities have not yet been established due to the severity of the injuries sustained in the crash

Eye witness Samuel Wainaina said the lorry was carrying trees, which fell on the occupants upon impact.

The bodies were taken to the Molo Sub-county Hospital mortuary for preservation as investigations continue

Residents and frequent road users have once again described Arimi Bridge as a notorious black spot, citing numerous fatal accidents in the area. At least 12 people reportedly lost their lives at the same location last year under similar circumstances

Locals have accused the government of failing to implement adequate safety measures despite repeated appeals. They are now calling for the urgent installation of street lighting, clear road markings, and protective barriers to prevent further loss of life

The incident has renewed calls for government intervention, with residents recalling previous assurances by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki that the bridge would be upgraded to improve road safety

Police have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident
