The alleged offenses occurred between October 20 and November 30, 2025, at Kambi Mwangi in Turbo Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County, where he is accused of intentionally and unlawfully defiling the minor

He also faces an alternative count of committing an indecent act with the minor by touching her private parts

The prosecution had opposed the release, arguing that Khalif was a flight risk, noting that his residence was unknown and that the local community was outraged due to his alleged involvement in the sexual assault of a minor with special needs

However, Khalif’s lawyer, Richard Warigi, dismissed these claims, asserting that his client’s residence is well known and that he is entitled to constitutional rights, including the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Warigi assured the court that Khalif would appear whenever required

The Magistrate ordered that the case be mentioned again on January 29, 2026, for further directions
