Kenya Welcomes Home First Contingent of Police Officers from Haiti Peacekeeping Mission
Their return comes under the Multi-National Security Support Mission, recently renamed the Gang Suppression Force

The National Police Service (NPS) has officially welcomed back the first group of Kenyan police officers who completed an 18-month peacekeeping deployment in Haiti, marking a significant milestone in Kenya’s role in global peace and security
The contingent was deployed last year after President William Ruto entrusted them with the national flag, symbolizing Kenya’s commitment to international cooperation and humanitarian protection
Their return comes under the Multi-National Security Support Mission, recently renamed the Gang Suppression Force

During their mission, the officers were credited with improving stability in Haiti, reopening key road networks, and supporting capacity-building efforts for the Haitian National Police
The team maintained high professional standards and adhered strictly to human rights protocols
National Security Advisor Amb. Dr. Monica Juma praised the officers’ performance, calling it “a promise kept,” and confirmed that reintegration and wellness programs are in place as they resume service at home
At the homecoming ceremony, Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Eliud Lagat, commended the officers for upholding integrity and honour under challenging conditions, noting that their experience abroad will strengthen policing capabilities in Kenya

Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Gilbert Masengeli, also lauded the team and expressed gratitude to President Ruto and international partners
The NPS paid tribute to officers who lost their lives during the mission, honouring their ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of peace
The returning contingent was accompanied by Deputy National Security Advisor and former Inspector General Joseph Boinnet, as well as Kenya’s Consul-General to Port-au-Prince, Noor Gabow. Senior NPS officers and unit commanders attended the ceremony to receive the team home
This return underscores Kenya’s ongoing commitment to international peacekeeping and reinforces the country’s reputation for professional, principled service on the global stage
