Renowned Kenyan actor Bilal Wanjau, celebrated for his roles in Tahidi High, Lies That Bind, Bazenga, The Runaway and Jela 5 Star, has died. His death was confirmed on Thursday, December 4, by actress Sandra Dacha, who had been supporting him on his weight-loss journey
Dacha shared a video showing her helping Bilal stand up, noting that he had been struggling with mobility due to his weight. In her announcement, she revealed that the actor died from complications related to diabetes
“It is with profound sorrow that I announce the untimely passing of my colleague @webster_jnr this morning due to complications related to diabetes,” she wrote

According to a source who spoke to TUKO.co.ke, Bilal had reportedly missed his medication for several days, leading to a diabetic coma
The actor, who rose to fame through the popular Tahidi High series on Citizen TV, also featured in Pepeta, Lies That Bind and Maisha Magic’s Jela 5 Star. Colleagues and fans praised his immense talent, describing his death as a major loss to Kenya’s film industry
“He was one of the best in the industry,” Sandra said, adding that his burial would take place on Friday, December 5, at his rural home in Machakos, in accordance with Muslim tradition. She urged Kenyans to keep the family in their prayers

In recent months, Bilal and Sandra had grown closer as she helped him pursue weight-loss treatment, including introducing him to a clinic that uses Ozempic. She had previously documented their visits, expressing hope for his health journey
