Another common stunt involves sitting on the tarmac as oncoming vehicles approach, forcing startled drivers to swerve in a desperate attempt to avoid tragedy

One widely circulated clip shows a young man in a beige sweater and green trousers high-fiving a friend before casually stepping onto the road, moments before a fast-moving bus hits him with a loud thud. His condition remains unknown

Women have also appeared in similar stunts. In one video, a trio strolls leisurely down the road as cars whizz past

Another shows a woman in a brown buibui and orange garbasaar standing still as motorbikes approach from both directions, narrowly manoeuvring around her

Sources familiar with the group say most of these stunts are filmed near the Muthaiga underpass, along the slip road off the highway

Kenyans on social media platforms, especially TikTok and X, have condemned the behaviour, calling it irresponsible, criminal, and hazardous to all road users

“This is recklessness of the highest order. This is not content creation it’s a crime,” one user wrote. “How have the authorities not stopped this? They’re endangering everyone on the road”

Another user, David Gathoni, criticised the trend, saying: “Except for crossing, you have NO business being on the road. These kids will end up dead or maimed for a few likes. This TikTok madness needs regulation”

Social media users also expressed sympathy for drivers who might unintentionally harm these stunt performers

“Even if a driver is innocent, the trauma of hitting someone lingers forever,” noted Joseph Nzioka

For many, the behaviour reflects an alarming disregard for life, with critics arguing that the performers treat public roads essential for ambulances, commuters, and transport as makeshift film sets for dangerous exploits that could easily end in tragedy

Police are yet to issue a statement on the matter, but Kenyans online have called for swift action before the pursuit of online fame results in loss of life
