Gachagua Dismisses President Ruto’s State of the Nation Address as ‘Useless’ in Escalating Political Feud

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his attacks on President William Ruto, terming the Head of State’s State of the Nation address delivered on Thursday as a “useless speech devoid of substance”
Speaking during by-election campaigns in Mbeere North, Gachagua accused President Ruto of offering “theatrics” instead of reporting real progress, arguing that the address failed to highlight any tangible achievements of the Kenya Kwanza administration

Gachagua also questioned the government’s spending in the Mbeere North by-election, criticizing what he termed a wasteful deployment of Ksh.500 million in a region still struggling with lack of water, electricity, and proper roads
He dismissed the President’s address as detached from the realities facing ordinary Kenyans, accusing Ruto of failing to deliver on promises to improve livelihoods
The former Deputy President further alleged voter bribery and intimidation in the by-election campaigns, claiming that state operatives were coercing residents to support UDA candidate Leonard Muthende

Addressing supporters, Gachagua urged the Mt. Kenya region to use the November 27 by-election to express their dissatisfaction with President Ruto’s leadership, pledging his full support for DP candidate Newton Kariuki
He has been campaigning in the constituency for the fourth consecutive day, drawing sizeable crowds in various stops across Ciangera, Kavengero, and Evurore ward
He was accompanied by allies including former Cabinet Secretary JB Muturi, Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, Nyandarua Senator John Methu, and Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thangwa
The war of words between Gachagua and senior Kenya Kwanza leaders is expected to intensify as the Mbeere North by-election approaches, with both sides framing the contest as a critical political battleground
