Kileleshwa Househelp Arrested for Stealing Gun and Ksh.348,000 from Employer

A househelp in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa estate has been arrested for allegedly stealing a safe containing cash, a firearm and other valuables from her employer

Marydina Anupi John, 43, is accused of making away with Ksh.348,000 in various currencies USD, Euros, and Kenyan shillings alongside a Glock 19 pistol and two magazines loaded with 44 rounds

According to Detective Simon Ihaji of Kilimani Police Station, the suspect is believed to have broken into her employer’s bedroom on the evening of November 3

The employer returned home to find both the safe and the househelp missing, with her phone switched off

Investigators traced Marydina to a hideout in Kawangware, where she was arrested. Police say they are pursuing additional suspects linked to the theft, including the whereabouts of the loaded pistol, which remains missing and is believed to be in dangerous hands

Kibera Principal Magistrate Margret Murage ordered that the suspect be detained until November 24, 2025, to allow detectives more time to complete investigations and prepare a charge sheet

Police continue to piece together crucial intelligence as the search for the missing weapon and possible accomplices intensifies
