16 Suspected Thugs Arrested After Attack on MP Peter Kaluma in Kasipul By-Election

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma was attacked on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Agoro Sare Primary School polling station during the Kasipul Constituency by-election
Kaluma, who was serving as the chief agent for ODM candidate Boyd Were, sustained no major injuries, but the incident sparked a police manhunt
The National Police Service (NPS) confirmed that 16 suspected thugs have been arrested

Officers intercepted five vehicles and two motorcycles in the operation, recovering ten pangas, five knives, as well as rungus and stones

“All suspects are being held in police custody pending arraignment in court,” the NPS said, adding that operations to deter crime and safeguard public safety would continue nationwide
This attack comes amid rising concerns over violence in Kenya’s by-elections, with authorities urging political actors to maintain law and order
