Hight fuel prices to affect madaraka express fares

  1. Kenya Railways is raising the fares for the Madaraka Express and commuter trains starting on January 1, 2024.

The increase is a response to the rising fuel prices, and it will impact travelers from Nairobi to Mombasa, with economy class tickets going from Sh1,000 to Sh1,500.

Business class passengers will see their fares rise to Sh4,500. This change is due to the escalating fuel costs affecting the company’s operations. Advanced ticket purchases for the Madaraka Express Passenger Service will reflect the new fares starting November 1, 2023, considering a 60-day window for advance bookings.

Additionally, other routes like Nairobi to Rongai, Ngong, Mai Mahiu, and Suswa will also experience fare adjustments
