Armed robbers involved in a complex incident.

Police officers in Ruiru, Kiambu County are on the lookout for three suspected armed robbers involved in a complex incident.

The search was initiated after the trio caused a car accident in Juja using a stolen vehicle.

The criminals reportedly kidnapped a car dealer and a broker, later escaping with a motorcycle.

to a police report detailing the incident on December 1, 2023, car dealer Kennedy Kimuhu Gitau received a call from broker Brian Karanja about a potential buyer in Juja interested in a Prado vehicle.

The two drove from a showroom along Kiambu Road to Juja to meet the buyer, identified as Robert Sifuna Wekesa. After meeting, they went for a test drive towards Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and stopped in front of a gated house in Juja.

 

Unexpectedly, three men on a motorcycle appeared, ordering Gitau and Karanja into the house while Wekesa drove the car into the compound. Hostage inside the house, Gitau and Karanja were instructed to pay Ksh.2.5 million each and call their loved ones for assistance.

Three days later, on December 4, two men and a woman tied up the victims, placed them in the Prado, and drove to an unknown destination.

The Prado collided with another vehicle at Juja Equity Bank, prompting a pursuit by the accosted vehicle’s driver. During the chase, one suspect fired two rounds in the air at Kimbo.

They then boarded a motorcycle, fired two more rounds in the air, and ordered the rider to take them to Juja.

The police, including officers from Kahawa Wendani police post and Ruiru DCI, visited the scene, recovering two spent cartridges of ammunition outside Magunas supermarket.

The Prado has been towed to Ruiru Police Station for further investigation.
