A Kenyan woman arrested at Mumbai’s Airport with cocaine valued at Ksh.281 million

A Kenyan woman traveling from Nairobi was apprehended at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on December 28 for her alleged involvement in smuggling cocaine valued at Ksh.281 million (₹14.90 crore). Officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) detained her upon her arrival via flight no KQ 204.

As reported by Indian media, the DRI statement revealed that officers successfully seized 1490 grams of a white powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine, concealed within a hair conditioner bottle and a body wash bottle.

The statement highlighted the inventive concealment, with two black polythene packets cleverly placed within the mentioned toiletry containers. The Kenyan woman has been taken into custody under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985, a comprehensive legal framework in India addressing offenses related to narcotics and psychotropic substances. She has subsequently been remanded to judicial custody.
