48-Year-Old Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for vandalizing a transformer

In a recent court ruling in Kisumu, a man named Polycarp Nyokaye Aringo was sentenced to 20 years in prison for vandalizing a transformer owned by the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC).

Aringo faced 12 counts related to the vandalism, which took place in the Ngere area of Seme Sub-County.

The Senior Principal Magistrate at Kisumu Law Courts, Hon Ezekiel Obina, handed down a 5-year sentence for each count, emphasizing the serious nature of the economic crimes involved. The accused will serve these sentences concurrently, resulting in a total of 20 years of imprisonment.

The charges against Aringo included vandalism of energy installation and infrastructure, unauthorized connection of electrical apparatus, and stealing of energy equipment, among others.

These offenses were committed during the night of October 4th and 5th, 2021.
