Over 440,000 Families to Benefit from Ksh 880 Million Inua Jamii Cash Transfer
NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 24 – The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services has released Ksh 880.04 million to support vulnerable households across the country under the government’s Inua Jamii programme.
Principal Secretary Carren Ageng’o said the funds will benefit 440,020 households under the Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC) initiative.
“This disbursement covers the September 2025 payment, and each beneficiary household will receive Ksh 2,000. Payments will begin tomorrow, 24th September 2025, through the contracted Payment Service Provider,” Ageng’o announced.
She noted that the funds are aimed at improving the welfare of children and strengthening families’ ability to care for them.
The CT-OVC Programme seeks to encourage the fostering and retention of orphans and vulnerable children within their families and communities, while promoting their human capital development.
According to Ageng’o, the programme has helped increase school enrolment and transition rates, improve health and nutrition outcomes, enhance household food security, and strengthen child protection.
Inua Jamii, Kenya’s National Safety Net Programme, provides regular bi-monthly cash stipends to vulnerable citizens — including the elderly aged 70 years and above, persons with severe disabilities, and orphans and vulnerable children.
